Here we have a wonderful Epiphone ES-339 from 2012 in the classic Ebony finish.
It has been played and therefore shows some light signs of use and a few superficial scratches, but no major dings or dents. Overall, it is in very good condition.
The ES-339 is perfect for anyone who loves the feel of a semi-hollow guitar but finds an ES-335 a little too bulky. Its body is only slightly larger than a Les Paul and comparable in size to a Casino Coupé, making it very comfortable to play. At only approx. 3.33 kg, this example is also pleasantly lightweight.
In our opinion, the neck profile is more C than D, relatively slim, and feels great in the hand. The rosewood fretboard also feels slightly wider than on a Les Paul with a classic ’60s neck.
The factory fretwork was not particularly good, even though the frets themselves showed hardly any wear. We therefore carefully leveled, recrowned, and polished the frets and then gave the guitar a complete setup. It now plays smoothly and exactly as it should.
The Epiphone Alnico Classic PRO humbuckers do a really good job: warm and powerful, but still with plenty of clarity. The electronics are classic Epiphone standard and work perfectly.
Tonally? A rock machine with a blues soul that also performs remarkably well in jazz territory.
