Description **

This Epiphone Les Paul Goldtop is almost too good to be true. It’s from 2005, built at Unsung Korea – a factory known for top quality and good materials – and it has been treated with care. The condition? Nearly mint with only minimal signs of playing. The transparent back shows off the beautiful grain. Truly a dream Goldtop blues and rock machine.

On this limited edition, the back of the body is finished in transparent lacquer. The neck on this ’56 edition isn’t as chunky as on later ’56 series models. The P90s sing and, in my opinion, don’t need any upgrading – like most Epiphone P90s I’ve heard so far. What matters much more here is how the pickup height is set in relation to the strings, and the pole screw under the B string should be turned in a bit. Fat and right in the sweet spot between humbucker and single coil.

Here you’re getting a real piece of gear that doesn’t have to hide behind the original G’s in any way – quite the opposite (-; though who wants to hear that if they paid three times as much for it).

The frets have been leveled and everything is nicely set up.

This Epiphone is anything but a “little sister” to the big G – it has its very own character and easily puts many of the big sisters in its pocket.
