This Epiphone Les Paul Standard here is a real little treasure! In beautiful original condition in Heritage Cherry Sunburst, it looks like it just came out of the egg – and that after almost 30 years. Incredibly well cared for and hardly played. I’m the second owner – before that it was in one owner’s hands for 30 years and was only played at home by someone from Munich. You can see it: almost no signs of use and the frets are still tip-top. There were just a few that sat too high, so we carefully leveled and polished them.
The neck is pleasantly slim – almost modern – and feels like a dream in the hand. It plays super smooth, with no resistance at all. It sounds the way a good Paula should sound: fat, warm, with great sustain and a singing note that instantly makes you grin.
Bottom line: An exceptionally beautiful, well-preserved Standard with character that not only looks great, but also sounds really good. And anyone who has played a Korean one from this era knows what they’re holding here.
