Hier haben wir eine viel gespielte Epiphone SG G-400 in Ebony aus früher koreanischer Fertigung – ein Modell, das viele Spieler heute ganz bewusst suchen. Diese Serie war in Sachen Verarbeitung und Materialqualität wirklich sehr gut.
Der Medium-C-Hals, der leicht in Richtung D-Shape geht, liegt angenehm in der Hand und fühlt sich vertraut an. Verbaut sind ein Alnico Classic Humbucker am Hals und ein Alnico Hot Humbucker an der Bridge - ein ausgewogenes Duo mit klassischem SG-Charakter: offen, bissig, mit Druck und Wärme.
Die Potiknöpfe haben Risse und bei einem fehlt die Einlage. Das Trussrod-Cover ist ebenfalls nicht mehr vorhanden - wer viel spielt und unterwegs ist, kennt das.
Sie hat deutliche Spielspuren und Dings und Dongs, die vom echten Musikerleben erzählen – typische Gebrauchsspuren, aber keine groben Blessuren. Die Hardware ist in sehr gutem Zustand.
Die Bünde haben wir frisch abgerichtet und poliert und ihr ein komplettes Setup gegönnt. Ergebnis: sehr gute Saitenlage und butterweiche Bespielbarkeit.
In ihrem Ebony-Finish mit Pearl-Pickguard ist sie einfach ein Klassiker. Eine ehrliche, perfekt spielbare SG für Rock, Blues und Bühne - mit dem Schub, den man von einer guten koreanischen G-400 erwartet.
