Epiphone SG G-400 Korina Ltd. Edition, 1998 - used

Here we have a truly rare Epiphone. There is very little information available about this model, and accordingly, it rarely appears on the used market. A guitar that should especially appeal to collectors and fans of unusual Epiphones.

It belongs to the Korina series, best known for the Explorer. There was also a Flying V – and this SG. In this case, Korina refers to the body wood, while the neck is made of mahogany.

There were two different finishes of the SG Korina. This one is the rarer version with the lighter contrasting body edges, which allows the grain of the Korina wood to show through particularly beautifully.

The slim C-shape neck is a dream and plays extremely well. It is fitted with the typical Korean Epiphone humbuckers with gold covers, delivering a warm, balanced, and powerful sound. The gold hardware is also remarkably well preserved considering the guitar is almost 30 years old.

Overall, the guitar is in excellent condition. There is no major damage, only normal, light signs of use.

The frets showed only very minor wear, although a few were sitting slightly high. We therefore carefully leveled, recrowned, and polished them and then gave the guitar a complete setup. The result is excellent action and beautifully smooth playability.

We believe this model certainly has some potential as a small investment piece. Above all, however, we hope it finds its way into the hands of a guitarist or collector who appreciates just how rare it is.
