Description **
Here we have a classic USA-made Fender Stratocaster from 2011 – the American Special model with the large CBS-style headstock.
The larger headstock was introduced back in the day with a more visible logo, so that everyone could instantly see what the guitarist was playing – especially when television became more and more important in the late sixties.
My first Fender, which I bought new in the late seventies, had this headstock too – so I really like it. Some players prefer the smaller pre-CBS headstock, but in the end, that is simply a matter of taste.
Sound-wise, this is a really strong Strat: the Texas Special single coils have punch, feel lively and deliver exactly that “Strat with bite” tone. The maple neck has a Modern C profile with a slight 60s feel and a very lightly satinized back – it feels great and plays beautifully.
Condition-wise, it shows only minimal signs of use. It was probably stored safely for most of its life and not played much.
The previous owner, born in 1946, bought it new in 2011 from “the big T” and fulfilled a teenage dream with it. Now he has found a beautiful semi-hollow guitar with us, which he can also play without an amp – and traded this Strat in for it.
The guitar is in original condition.
