Höfner HCT Colorama II P90 Double Cut - used

Höfner HCT Colorama II P90 Double Cut is an honest player guitar with 60s character and a face of its own. It feels familiar like a Double Cut, sounds raw and direct, and brings exactly that uncomplicated Rock’n’Roll vibe.

The original Höfner Colorama was Höfner’s best-selling electric guitar in the 1950s and 1960s. This modern reissue picks up exactly that spirit again. A really charming guitar: visually, it reminds you of an LP Double Cut, feels similar and, above all, sounds that way too.

The typical Höfner 60s-style inlays immediately make it clear that this is not a Gibson or Epiphone clone, but an independent model with history.

The neck has a slim 60s C profile and plays pleasantly direct and uncomplicated. The Höfner P90 pickups surprise with clarity, punch and a nice crunch. Not a high-gain machine, but an honest, dynamic tone with character – perfect for rock, blues or indie.

The Metallic Bordeaux finish suits it very well and gives it an elegant touch. This model was not built for long and was originally positioned in the lower price range – but in terms of sound and playing feel, it can do far more than you might expect.

We levelled the frets and gave the guitar a complete setup. Now it plays cleanly, directly and absolutely reliably.

It has been played a lot – especially on the back, with visible dings and dongs. The front is much better preserved. A real player guitar, not a display-case piece.
