Description **

The Ibanez AZES40 is the proverbial “egg-laying wool-milk-sow” among budget guitars – and for good reason. Developed in collaboration with Tomo Fujita, the well-known Berklee professor and online guitar mentor, this model has pretty much reached cult status in the community.

For around €300, you get an astonishing amount of guitar for the money. We gave the frets a bit of love – freshly leveled, polished, and finished off with a full setup. Now it plays buttery smooth.

Tonally it’s incredibly versatile: thanks to the clever “Alter Switch” (magic little toggle), you get 10 sound options – from glassy Strat tones to funky in-between combos all the way to punchy humbucker lead sounds. Eight of them are absolutely stage-worthy.

The neck feels almost like dry-oiled wood, sits comfortably in the hand, and has a well-balanced medium profile. An instrument that inspires – and is simply fun, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced player.
