Phil Pro Strat - used

This Phil Pro Strat is a truly rare piece from Korea. There is very little information available about the brand, but we assume it was produced in the late 1990s.

The workmanship is very good, and the shape strongly reminds us of the Ibanez S Series. The five-piece neck also follows the idea of those super-slim Ibanez profiles – fast, direct and very comfortable to play.

The Wilkinson tremolo is blocked for upward movement, but it can be released again at any time. In combination with the locking tuners, it works very reliably. The pickups sound clear and powerful – definitely not cheap stuff.

We levelled the frets, properly adjusted the tremolo and set everything up. Now it plays very well and delivers real punch.

Visually, it is a real eye-catcher, and in terms of playability it is absolutely convincing.

General information about the Phil Pro brand

Phil Pro was a brand of the South Korean Myung Sung Musical Company Limited, which produced various instruments in the 1990s and early 2000s – including electric guitars, acoustic guitars, basses and mandolins.

The range included models with offset double-cutaway bodies, bolt-on necks and double-locking tremolo systems.

Although distribution in the USA was intended, the instruments were probably never officially offered there. In Germany, however, Phil Pro guitars were available and appreciated by musicians.

Some models were equipped with high-quality components such as Seymour Duncan pickups and featured special design details, for example inlaid abalone eagles.

Production mainly took place in South Korea, while more affordable versions were partly made in China.

Today, Phil Pro guitars appear from time to time on the used market and are appreciated by players looking for a well-made, rather rare instrument.
