PRS SE Custom 24 Floyd Rose 30th Anniversary LTD. – Santana Yellow 2015 is one of those PRS guitars you take out of the case and immediately think: okay… stage. Beautiful top, slim neck, Floyd feel – and after our fretwork, it plays exactly the way you want it to.
What immediately stands out on this PRS SE Custom 24 with Floyd Rose is the beautiful quilted maple top – transparent in Santana Yellow, simply stunning. This is a rare special model where you can tell: no corners were cut, neither in the workmanship nor in the overall package.
The neck is nicely slim – a really well-shaped C profile. It sits wonderfully in the hand and looks almost like new: hardly any scratches, hardly any dings and dongs. This Santana Yellow is exactly the right mix of classy and bold – elegant, but definitely an eye-catcher as soon as the light hits it.
The factory fretwork was okay and the guitar was probably mostly played at home – but the frets already showed some light wear. So we took care of it properly: frets levelled, polished and a complete setup done. Now it plays beautifully – clean, fast and PRS-typically slick.
The Floyd Rose has also received an upgrade that I really love: a push-in tremolo arm instead of the screw-in collar system. No more fiddling, no poorly locking thread – you can adjust the arm movement exactly how you like it, and for packing the guitar away, the arm is out in two seconds.
The PRS HFS & Vintage Bass humbuckers with coil-split function are original, and this exact combination was used on this LTD model – and yes, they really deliver. From biting and powerful to usable split sounds, it is all there. In short: a modern PRS with character, comfort and Floyd feel – for stage, studio or sofa.
