Epiphone ES-339 Pro P90 🍷 – Wine Red Transparent – 07/2014

Here we have an Epiphone ES-339 Pro P90 from July 2014 – in the truly rare Wine Red Transparent (WR) finish. We always keep an eye out for these models because they’re just something special. So far, we’ve only ever had 2014 examples with P90s in our hands. Later production years exist, but those are almost always in Pelham Blue.

The 339 is perfect for anyone who loves the feel of a semi-hollow but finds a 335 a bit too bulky. Body-wise, it’s only slightly larger than a Les Paul and has identical dimensions to a Casino Coupe – making it very comfortable to hold. Weight? Usually just over 3 kg – a blessing for your back during live gigs.

The neck is nice and slim, sits beautifully in the hand, and the fingerboard feels just a touch wider than a Les Paul with a 60s neck. Stock fretwork is nothing to write home about – which is why we’ve put in some proper work: levelled, polished, and set up perfectly. Now it plays exactly the way it should.

The Epiphone P90R PRO & P90T PRO pickups are simply fantastic – powerful, open, and with just the right amount of character. In our opinion, there’s no need to replace them. The electronics are fairly standard, but absolutely functional.

Sound-wise? A rock machine with a blues soul that also looks right at home in the jazz world. 🎶
