Epiphone SG vintage G400, Worn Brown, Korea 2005
This high-quality special edition SG, made in Korea, features a relatively chunky neck profile that feels excellent in the hand. The Korean models are definitely a step above the China or Indonesia-made SGs. I find them to be of higher quality – both in terms of craftsmanship and materials.
It comes with a bound fretboard and USA-designed Alnico humbuckers with upgraded electronics. The string action is superb, and the medium frets make it a joy to play. It’s a true classic in its Worn Brown finish (matte transparent brown) with trapezoid inlays on the fretboard.
🎸 This Worn Brown finish is, in my opinion, the classic SG look – and with the neck binding, I instantly feel like I’m slipping into an Australian school uniform.
🔥 The pickups sound balanced, wonderfully powerful, and brilliant – state of the art for an SG. There are minimal signs of play on the back of the body and the pickguard. There are a few tiny dings just below the bridge. Due to the ultra-thin finish, these models are delicate – no buffing out scratches, dings are permanent.
✅ A wonderful SG that plays like butter and sounds exactly how you’d expect. Frets are leveled, and everything is well set up.
